EESTEC CONGRESS 2011

 CONGRESS 2011

Between the 15th and 22nd of April 2011, over 120 European engineering student leaders will participate to the 25th EESTEC Congress.
The Congress is the event where the Local Committees and International Board discuss the problems and take responsibility for the actions taken during the last year. They study the current problems and set an approach for the next year. Also, organizational and functional rules are set, the next year’s COC and International Board are elected.

The main goal is for electrical engineering students to meet and establish international contacts. The main advantage is the exchange of technical and cultural ideas, most of the time leading to international friendships. Attending this event helps develop “soft” skills, like negotiation, discourse or team work, skills very useful to both students and employees, especially because of the lack of such information in university curricula.
The event will have 3 session types: trainings, work sessions and general meetings. Training sessions are conceived such that they offer a variety of “soft” skill options to students: each one can choose the type that suits best his/hers profile. The trainers are members of EESTEC Training Team and are experienced in their domains. Work sessions are oriented towards project management and problems that may occur. The results will be analyzed and debated during the Congress’ General Meetings, afterwards being utilized in the following year’s projects.
The General Meetings are the most important part of the Congress’ activities and are characterized by democratic laws, according to the rules and regulations book of the organization; containing status reports from the International Board, project coordinators and project teams, about their 2010 activities, applications and elections for the International Board and other EESTEC bodies, exclusions and promotions of Local Committees, debate and voting on subjects proposed in the work sessions, all in the idea of continuous development.
On a global level, the EESTEC Congress offers students a broader view about their future responsibilities and options, having a powerful impact over the student community.
